The Youth Blues Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to aspiring young blues musicians.

The Blues Foundation expanded its longstanding Blues in the Schools youth education efforts with a new initiative that began in 2010 entitled Generation Blues. Generation Blues was created to provide financial assistance to aspiring young blues musicians whose limited financial resources might prohibit them from attending a blues music learning opportunity. This scholarship program is available for those under the age of 21 to study their instrument of choice at reputable camps, seminars, and workshop programs in the U.S. and Canada. The scholarship does not fund individual lessons or tuition.

Like Blues in the Schools, the Utah Blues Society is taking a national program and executing it on the local level, which is called the Youth Blues Scholarship Program. In 2019, we awarded another Youth Blues Scholarship grant to a new blues music school, Blues ā€œNā€ Kids, which is being run by veteran musician and teacher, Bobby Joe Holman. He is also in charge of rehearsing a Youth Blues Showcase Band to open (as always) the second day of the June 14 & 15, 2019, 5th Annual Utah Blues Festival.

We are developing a formal application process for qualified applicants for the 2019-20 year and hope to fund additional kids and/or music schools in the future. Check back here for further information or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
