The Utah Blues Society sends a Utah blues act to Memphis to compete against bands from all over the world.
The International Blues Challenge (IBC) is a truly international showcase of about 250 of the best unsigned blues acts from around the world, held each January at clubs and venues in Memphis. As a Blues Foundation affiliate, the UBS is entitled to send an act in the “Band” division and/or the “Solo/Duo” division. In 2018, we did just that by sending the winners of our local challenge that we held in late 2017. Proudly, BOTH William G. Kidd (Solo/Duo entrant) and Tony Holiday & the Velvetones (Band entrant) made it to the Semi-Finals! They really represented your UBS (and the entire State of Utah) admirably - especially for our first foray to the IBC.
